In June 2017, the FMCG retailers from Romania opened a total number of 15 stores, compared to 21 units opened in May 2017. Retailers like PROFI (581 stores in total), Auchan (33 hypermarkets and 4 MyAuchan proximity stores) and Kaufland (115 stores in total) opened stores in June.

Auchan Retail Romania, in partnership with OMV Petrom, opened the fourth MyAuchan proximity store at PETROM Razvad station in Dambovita County.
PROFI registered a 39% increase in turnover in 2016, as opposed to 2015, this being the largest increase in food retail in Romania. The increase in the turnover of the whole modern retail in 2016 versus 2015 was 10.56%. Kaufland remains the leader of local retail after turnover.
Kaufland Romania inaugurated the first summer store set in a tent in the Sovata spa resort, Mureş County, which will be open throughout the summer until 17 September 2017.
