Retail – Carrefour
The Romanian shopping basket reflects the consumers’ changing preferences at the international level. The viral trends of superfoods are now in the consumer data: the volume of Greek yogurt is an increasing trend, tuna is increasing by almost half compared to last year, and vegetable milk is increasing constantly. These are the conclusions of the spring edition of the Taste of the Season Barometer, a study that shows what is in Romanians’ fridges in each season, made by Carrefour Romania with NielsenIQ.
The Agrointeligenta group, in partnership with Carrefour Romania and with the support of the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry, continued the actions of supporting and promoting the Romanian producers.
Carrefour Romania continued to support the family budget and introduced a long-term measure to reduce prices, available in all hypermarkets and in a selection of supermarkets in the country.
Competition Council authorized the transaction through which Paval Holding intends to take over Carrefour group in Romania.
Retail – PENNY
In an interview for retail-FMCG.ro, Daniel Gross, CEO PENNY Romania, talked about the expansion of the network, the role of logistics infrastructure, the evolution of the 3RO strategy, the transformation of the discount concept and the way in which the retailer responds to a consumer that is more careful about the quality-price ratio.

Ficosota, one of the leaders of the snacking producers in Eastern Europe, expanded the portfolio of Maretti Bruschette with a new range: Sea salt from Sardinia.

Food Service
Burger King opened its 41st restaurant in the national network in Bragadiru, Alexandriei Street no. 139.
Wendy’s celebrated a year of activity in Romania, a period in which it opened 6 restaurants in three cities, created over 100 jobs and continues to develop and consolidate its investments on the local market.

The Romanian cherries are the summer’s stars in the Sezamo online supermarket.
Glovo, the technological platform for on-demand orders, expanded its local partners portfolio and announced the launch of the collaboration with Bacania Veche, one of the most appreciated independent gastronomical concepts in Bucharest.
The data of Sezamo online supermarket showed that the sales from Cocktail & Accessories grew with 40,5% in June, compared to the average of the first four months of the year.

theMarketer, one of the main players on the technology market for automated marketing and consumer data, acquired the email marketing platform Conectoo from Conversion Marketing SRL, a company from the eMAG Group.
