Retail – Carrefour
Carrefour Romania announced the financial results for 2022.
Opening Romanian Wine, the program owned by Carrefour Romania that supports the Romanian wine industry since 2019, held a wine tasting at the invitation of Romania’s Embassy from Rome and in partnership with Wines of Romania, at which participated representatives from Carrefour Romania and Italy, business and HoReCa owners, authorities and public figures from Italy.
Carrefour continued to support the innovation through dedicated programs and one of the most important projects that the retailers supports is Innovation Labs, the biggest pre-acceleration program for technical start-ups in Romania, aiming to grow young generation of Romanian entrepreneurs.
Retail – Profi
Local producers in Romania are now reunited on the platform Via Profi.ro, a project developed by Profi, the retailer that owns the biggest national network with the most stores in Romania, through which anyone can meet and enjoy the Romanian authentic taste kept by culinary artisans that bring traditional recipes or search to integrate new ones in national gastronomical patrimony.
Starting with June, the products of local producers from Suceava have a place on the Shelf of Local Goodies, because of the expansion of this concept to six Profi stores from this district.
Profi, opened 4 new stores in June 2023, reaching a national network of 1670 stores.
Retail – Mega Image
Closer to the World Blood Donation Day, celebrated on 14th of June every year, Mega Image continued to support one of the most important causes at this moment at national level: the strong need of blood.
Retail – PENNY
PENNY, one of the most active retailers in Romania, expanded its network by opening two new stores in 3rd and 6th districts of Bucharest, reaching 343 units at national level.
Enel X Way Romania, part of Enel X Way, a company of Enel Group dedicated to the electric mobility, collaborates with PENNY to install a network of 64 charging stations for electric cars, representing a total of 128 charging points.
Retail – Kaufland
Kaufland maintained its position in the top biggest companies in Romania based on the market share and continued to be one of the most important private employers, according to the study of the company for the financial year 2022, made by KPMG.
Kaufland Romania obtained the BREEAM In-Use V6 certification, Excellent qualification, for its store in Cluj-Napoca, in Gheorgheni district.
Retail – Auchan
Between 21st of June and 18th of July, Auchan Romania organizes the 14th edition of Beer Fair, one of the emblematic events of the company and the biggest beer fair in the local market.
Retail – other retailers
Annabella, one of the most important local players in food retail in Romania, opened the 100th store and made steps to develop retail parks, by opening Annabella Retail Park.
Animax, the pet retailer with the biggest store network in Romania, opened two stores in Bucharest and Arad, after an investment of 210.000 euro and reached 129 stores in the country.
FMCG
The Romanian Union of Cosmetics and Detergents Producers (RUCODEM) launched the Product Resources Efficiency Project Powder Romania – PREP P RO, a voluntary initiative similar to those launched by A.I.S.E. (International Association of Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products – www.aise.eu) in the domain of universal powder laundry detergents used in European households (PREP-P3).
Started in 2018, the investment made by ALKA Group in the factory from Ploiesti, where it produces salted backed snacks, reached up to 25 millions euro, over a half of them being invested in the second part of development, that was recently closed.
Carlsberg LUMA was Voted the Product of he Year for innovation in the category of beer for consumers, in one of the biggest competitions in the world of FMCG, that is active in 47 countries.
Inter Conecter, the company from Timisoara specialized for over 20 years in the import of coffee, sweets and premium food products, presented in Romania the Zozole range of products, owned by Mieszko Polish producer.
Food Service
Premier Restaurants Romania, the operator of the McDonald’s restaurants network in Romania, extended its national network by opening the 97th restaurant in Dumbravita, Timis district.
Burger King, one of the most known fast food restaurants network, opened a new restaurant in Galati.
EcoBioGreen
GreenGroup, leader in the circular economy and waste management in Eastern Europe, sign an agreement to acquire a majority participation from Expert Cleaning, a supplier of specialized cleaning solutions for hard industries and DIY stores in Romania, consolidating its portfolio with sustainable solutions for industrial clients.
RetuRO Sistem Garantie Returnare, the administrator of the National System of Guarantee-Return (SGR), announced all the producers of beverages from bottled water, sodas, beer, cider, wine, alcohol beverages, that put on the market non-reusable plastic, aluminium and glass primary packaging, with dimensions between 0.1 liters and 3 liters and that finalized the registration on www returosgr.ro, that, starting with 20th of June 2023, is available in the platform and can be signed the Agreement of services for Producers.
E-commerce
The Romanian entrepreneurs from the cross-border program eMAG Marketplace that sell in three countries, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria, registered additional sales of 40% in the first half of this year for the products that are active in these countries, more than the sales made for the same products in Romania.
At the anniversary of 5 years in Romania, Glovo, the multi-category platform that offers access to a bigger variety of products, presented the data about the evolution of the company on the local market.
Services
Sameday, leader on the out-of-home delivery segment and one of the main players from courier market, announced an increase of market share with 11% in the first trimester of 2023, than the same period in 2022.
Cargus, one of the biggest players in the Romanian industry of courier, added Vinted to its portfolio, the biggest international marketplace platform in Europe of second-hand fashion, dedicated to consumers.
Kooperativa 2.0, the full-service agency of marketing and communication, became official partner of CludCart in Romania, an e-Commerce-as-a-Service platform.
Andrzej Wronski, Group Head of Asset Management of P3 Logistic Parks, took over the role of Managing Director for P3 Romania since 1st of July 2023 from Sanziana Pardhan, who took the decision to retire after six years of managing the P3 operations in the country.
