retailRetail – PENNY

PENNY Romania finished the year 2024 with a total of 416 stores at national level, after opening five units in the last days of the year.

Retail – Mega Image

Ahold Delhaize finished the acquisition of the Romanian retailer of food products Profi Rom Food (S.R.L.) (Profi store network) from MidEuropa, for an amount of almost 1.3 billion euros.

Retail – Profi

Profi announced that Mihai Spulber, who is now SVP of Operations and Supply Chain at Mega Image, will take over the role of CEO of Profi Romania starting on the 1st of July 2025.

Retail – Auchan

The 13th edition of the Auchan Big Fair of Coffee and Tea takes place between the 15th of January and the 4th of February in all Auchan stores and on the online store auchan.ro, offering a varied and attractive range of advantageous prices.

Auchan Romania, one of the most important retailers, known for small prices, adapted ranges, and commercial innovation, will open the first discount hypermarket ATAC by Auchan in Bucharest and the supermarket Auchan Sky Garden in Popesti Leordeni. For these stores, the retailer is recruiting over 120 people.

Retail – Lidl

Lidl consolidated the commitment to conscious food through an even more consistent alignment of its product range at the Planetary Health Diet, until the year 2025.

Lidl continued the investments in the local market by opening three new stores in Sibiu, Suceava, and Brasov on the 30th of January.

Retail – Kaufland

Kaufland Romania extended its presence at the national level and opened the second store in Bragadiru, Ilfov district.

Żabka Polish group, one of the main European proximity retailers, started the expansion process on the Romanian market with the new brand froo.

Zacaria Group, which specializes in the development of residential and industrial projects, started the construction of the first retail park in its portfolio.

Danone Romania named Delia Corniciuc as Marketing Manager for Cenral and Eastern Europe.

The Romanian Brewers Association announced that it has a new President: Mihai Voicu, General Manager of Bergenbier S.A., a company that is part of Molson Coors Beverage Company group, who took over a second mandate at the management of Romanian Brewers.

E-commerce

Wolt finished the acquisition of Tazz, one of the most important delivery platforms in Romania, from eMAG.

Bolt Market managed to avoid wasting 15.4 tones of food products in Romania, in 2024, through the Save Me category, available in the app.

Food Services

The online supermarket Sezamo announced that in January signed a partnership with City Grill, one of the most important players in the hospitality industry in Romania, to offer its clients ready-to-eat products as convenient options, made by chefs.

Services

Tetra Pak, the global leader in solutions for processing and packing food, successfully installed its latest generation line, Tetra Pak E3 Flex XH, at Simultan, the biggest milk processor with Romanian capital.

FAN Courier, an entrepreneurship company with 100% Romanian capital, founded in 1998 by Felix Patrascanu, Adrian Mihai, and Neculai Mihai, finished 2024 with a business of 1.385 billion lei (almost 280 million euros), increased by 12.5% than last year and maintaining the forecast for 2025.

Mercedes-Benz Romania finished 2024 with remarkable results, consolidating its leadership position in the premium auto market.

Cargus, a reference name in the courier industry in Romania, announced an important transition of leadership. Starting with the 20th of January 2025, Belgin Bactali, who had the role of CEO of the company in 2019, officially took over the role of CEO from Yannick Mooijman.
