Kaufland, a leader in the retail market, for the second consecutive year received the international certification Top Employer in Romania, given the independent institute Top Employer in the Netherlands.
Auchan plans to open more supermarkets in partnership with OMV – Petrom Romania, a new format stores operated by Auchan in Romania. These supermarkets are part of a pilot project and would open in some gas stations of OMV – Petrom.

The Romanian Competition Council has authorized the transaction by which MEP Retail Investments SRL bought the local retail network Profi, following the agreement of sale announced in November 2016. PROFI opened 12 stores in February, reaching a network of 523 units in 272 localities in Romania.
Carrefour Romania and division of real estate, Property Division, announced at a press conference, expansion and modernization of Carrefour Shopping Center Brasov.
The European Commission decided to send letters of formal notice to Hungary and Romania on the grounds that their national rules on retail of agricultural and food products run against EU law. In Romania, large retailers are required to purchase at least 51% of food and agricultural products from local producers.
The average retail trade for the year 2016, compared with 2015, rose by 1.8% in the euro area and by 2.8% in the EU28.
