Retail – Auchan

OMV Petrom and Auchan Retail Romania opened 200 MyAuchan stores in Petrom stations, half of the total number agreed by the two partners.

Auchan Romania continued to develop the proximity segment and opened the sixth supermarket of the network and the second selling unit from Iasi district.

Retail – PENNY

To improve the shopping experience of clients and to offer more quickly the products that they want, PENNY Romania and Glovo signed a partnership to deliver products from PENNY stores to the clients from 65 cities in Romania.

Retail – Lidl

Lidl continued to expand in Romania and opened two new stores in Bucharest and Branesti and a new store in Oradea, reaching 336 stores.

Retail – Carrefour

Carrefour Romania announced a series of strategic appointments in the company’s board, because of the promotion of two key leaders in the local and regional business.

We talked with Gabriela Stanica, Chief Information & Data Officer and E-commerce Manager of Carrefour Romania about the consumer behavior in ecommerce and about BRINGO plans in an exclusive interview for publication.

Carrefour Romania reached 120 Express convenience stores at national level, with opening 12 new stores in the first half of the year.

Retail – Kaufland

Kaufland opened a new store in Oradea, the second hypermarket of the network situated in commercial center, reaching a total network of 153 stores in Romania.

Retail – Mega Image

The Competition Council announced that sanctioned Mega Image with a fine of 10,08 millions lei (almost 2 millions euro) for offering inaccurate information about the prices of some based products, like sunflower oil. The Mega Image response.


The beer market in Romania registered a decrease of 10% in the first 4 months of 2022 compared to the same period of last year.

Bergenbier S.A., part of the group Molson Coors Beverage Company, one of the main players of the beer market in Romania, finished 2021 with a market share of 716 millions lei, with an increase of almost 10% than in 2020.

Natalia Gelshtein-Kishsh, executive with vast experience in companies management in FMCG and with a record in different markets in Central Europe, was named the new CEO of Alpin57Lux, Romanian company focused on production and distribution of ice-cream, part of the international group Food Union.

Bringo, the specialized company in ecommerce and home delivery, and PENNY, one of the most active retailers in Romania, became partners to extend options for online shopping.

Freshful by eMAG introduced a new range of ultra-fresh vegetables „From garden” from local producers.

Food Service

Tazz platform extended its delivery services for summer on the beaches and bookings from Mamaia and on the beaches from Constanta.

Popeyes, the American restaurant with quick serving, opened the second restaurant in Bucharest in Parklake Shopping Center, on 30rd of July 2022.


Romanian Business Consult (RBC), leader on the local market of IT solutions for modern retail and banking, finished the acquisition of SmartPay Software (SPS), entrepreneurial company of software with major expertise in developing solutions for the industry of payment processes.


Revolut, the super financial app with over 18 millions of clients globally, reached 2 millions clients on the local market, after 4 years of presence in Romania.

Wizrom Software, one of the most important developers and integrators of business software in Romania, signed a partnership for integrating the digital platform Postis in its own ERP system, to offer its clients a complete system of management and delivery of online orders and B2B distribution.


In June 2021, in grocery retail in Romania were opened  33 stores, in this account entering just the stores opened and officially released by the retailers.
