retailRetail – Carrefour

Carrefour Group announced a strong financial performance in the third trimester of 2022 – an increase of sales with 19% than the same period last year, concentrating on the clients satisfaction before everything. Romania occupies the second position as the evolution of market share in Europe, with and increase of 8.8% in comparable terms (LFL) than the Q3 2021.

Retail – Profi

PROFI, the retailer that owns the biggest national coverage and the most stores in Romania, opened 12 stores in November 2022 in Romania. At this moment, more than 1.000 stores from those over 1600 that are part of the Profi network are managed by entrepreneurs that own in Partnership system. PROFI added a new functionality in its loyalty system, through Profi app.

Retail – Lidl

Lidl Romania opened on 14th of November two new stores in Alexandria and Roman, on 21st of November two stores in Cisnadie and Caransebes and on 28th of November three new stores in Bucharest, Vaslui and Pecica, reaching 350 stores.

Lidl Romania introduced a new function in the mobile app Lidl plus through which facilitates customized packages and discounts for the customers to a varied range of services and products from external partners.

Lidl Romania offers its clients Click & Pick service, available in the mobile app Lidl Plus in the period 28th of November – 15th of December, through which they can reserve special products for holidays on the telephone.

Retail – Mega Image

Mega Image marched 9 years from launching the program ”Romanian Tastes from householders”, an equal partnership with local producers that cultivate fruits and vegetables with Romanian authentic taste.

Retail – Auchan

In the context of energetic crisis and in accordance with the strategic of the company about the decarbonisation of operations, Auchan Romania started a new set of actions that assures the decreasing of energetic consume of the company with 20%.

Retail – cora

cora Pro, the service of orders addressed exclusively to companies, introduced by cora Romania in January 2021, launched the Christmas Offer with 15% discount for orders bigger than 500 lei (including VAT), available between 9 of November and 21st of December 2022.

Retail – Kaufland

Kaufland opened on 24th of November the 1.500 store of the company, in Bucharest, on Bd. Basarabia, no. 250, 3rd district. Kaufland announced new projects through which encourage its clients to recycle.

Retail – PENNY

PENNY opened 5 new stores in novemnber 2022 and reached 323 units in Romania. PENNY also finished the remodeling process of all the stores in the country.

Retail – other retailers

2022 represented an increase of the diversity of product ranges and a visible development for dm drogerie markt.

Supernova Pitesti continued the process of expansion and opened new spaces designed to relax.

FMCG

Michał Mrowiec, the actual Vice President of Sales of Kompania Piwowarska, will take over the role of President of Ursus Romania starting with 1st of January 2023, after the decision of Paul Barnett to return to Australia.

Coca-Cola HBC Romania, leader of the local industry of beverages, published the most recent sustainability report, document that presents an overview about the company’s vision for sustainable development, objectives and followed steps, based on the non-financial results for 2021. Also, in 2021, the activity of Coca-Cola System – composed of the companies Coca-Cola Romania and Coca-Cola HBC Romania – generated an added value in the local economy of 519 millions euro, with over 20% compared to last year, on the entire value network.

Smithfield Europe, subsidiary of the American company Smithfield Foods, signed an agreement of acquisition of the company Goodies Meat Production SRL, a Romanian producer of meat products for retail.

Food Service

Popeyes Romania marched an important step in the extension plan: on 12th of November opened the first Drive-Thru in the country, in Lemon Retail Park Commercial Center, in Voluntari, Ilfov district.

Mastercard supports and considers necessary the adoption of the regulatory legislative that frameworks the payment, cashing in, registration and taxing of the tip amounts in HoReCa industry and that makes possible also in Romania the usual model in Europe.

Sphera Franchise Group, the company that administrates in franchise system the brand Taco Bell, restaurants network with Mexican inspired products, extended its local network by opening a new restaurant in Craiova.

Premier Restaurants Romania, the operator of the restaurants network McDonald’s in Romania, extended the network and opened the 94th restaurant in Iasi.

By starting a partnership with Frank Buna, 5 to go became unique importer and distributor of Latte Art Factory, bringing in Romania the most modern technology to obtain the milk cream and offering to entrepreneurs an innovative solution for businesses efficiency in HoReCa.

E-commerce

The orders from Black Friday 2022 from eMAG exceeded with 13 millions lei the record from last year, and the interest at the starting hour of 7.21 am was maximum. In the first 10 hours from the beginning of Black Friday, the clients ordered over 1.8 millions products from a varied range of categories, than 1.6 millions last year, in the same period of time.

The 12th edition of Black Friday at eMAG, that took place on 11th of November 2022, brought over 560.000 clients that wanted to take advantage of the food offers from eMAG and from over 9.560 sellers that participated to the event.

Over 50.000 km made, more than 6.5 tones of CO2 saved, almost 46.000 hours saved by customers: this is how it is translated, shortly, Green Friday Sezamo.

Bolt Market – the quick service of delivery of food and non-food products – finished the first year of activity in Romania with over 40.000 clients that used the services, a strong network of suppliers and an optimal coverage of the cities Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.

PayU, leader of the online payments in Romania, estimated that at this year edition of Black Friday, that took place on 11ths of November, on the e-commerce market will be acquired and will be payed online products and services of almost 510 millions lei, a little over the value of last year.
