Retail – Carrefour
In Romania, Carrefour maintained a good rhythm in T1, despite of the decreasing of volumes from this sector, with sustained growth of market share and +12.5% LFL in sales, with the biggest growth in Europe (+8.8% LFL in this trimester in the region).
On the occasion of 22 years of activity in Romania, Carrefour proposed to its clients a new campaign, in which thousands of products that have small guaranteed prices benefit from the biggest HITs.
Retail – Lidl
Lidl Romania named Ionela Sulugiuc in the Management Board of the company, as National Manager of Human Resources.
Lidl continued the investments on the local market by opening a new store in Targoviste and a new store in Bucharest, reaching 355 stores.
Lidl Romania, along with DSU and Foundation for SMURD, installed over 50 automated defibrillators in Lidl stores and public spaces in Bucharest and Ilfov.
Retail – PENNY
Starting with 8th of May, PENNY clients are receiving the weekly offers, directly on the mobile phone, through WhatsApp app.
PENNY Romania finished 2022 with a market share of 7.17 billions lei, representing an advance of 33% reported to 2021.
PENNY continues to make steps forward when it comes to achieve the 3RO objective.
PENNY opened the third store in Chiajna, Ilfov district, and one store in Dumbraveni, reaching 341 units at national level.
Retail – Auchan
Auchan and Romanian Post decided to close the pilot project for selling food products and non-food products in the post offices.
Forte Partners signed an agreement through which Auchan Romania rents 2600 sqm in the second stage of the offices project U•Center, in a zone of the building that is dedicated exclusively to retail.
Retail – Profi
Profi, the retailer that owns the biggest national coverage and the most stores in Romania, announced the financial results in 2022.
Profi, opened 6 new stores in May 2023, reaching a national network of 1666 stores.

Kaufland joins Romanian Federation of Rowing as official sponsor and supports the efforts of the Federation and of national team through a sponsorship of 50.000 euro.

Animax, the retailer that reached 124 stores in the country, entered a new digital era, launching the new website animax.ro and the app FideliClub, that offers discounts.
Glovo, the multi-category platform that offers access to many products, now offers to its users the possibility to order products for pets from Animax.
The market share of toys market in Romania (production & sale) increased with 14% than 2020 and was almost 8 times bigger than in 2012, being at the highest level in the history, exceeding the value of 1.5 billions lei in 2021, showed an analysis made by KeysFin.
