In August 2017, the FMCG retailers from Romania opened a total number of 23 stores, compared to 15 units opened in July 2017. Retailers like PROFI (610 stores in total), and Mega Image (557 supermarket stores in total) opened stores in August.

PROFI, the retailer of the private equity fund managed by Mid Europa Partners, has exceeded the threshold of 600 stores and remains the retailer with most units but also the one with the largest expansion in Romania, present in 332 localities. The retailer managed to open a total of 16 stores in Romania only in August.
Auchan Retail Romania will open its first supermarket in a historical, flagship location for Bucharest – Bucur Obor Shopping Center.
REWE Romania completes the remodeling of XXL Mega Discount stores, the Fundeni store being the last to be reopened in Penny Market on August 30th.
Mega Image announces the opening of four new stores, a supermarket in Cluj-Napoca, one in Mamaia and two Shop & Go stores in Bucharest, reaching 557 open stores. Also, The Ahold Delhaize retail group, which includes Mega Image, reports a strong quarter, with sales growth of 3.9%.
