Retail – Profi

Profi, the retailer that owns the network with the biggest national coverage and owns most stores in Romania, opened in September 2021 a number of 17 stores and in October 2021 opened a number of 17 stores.

The Partner Shops Profi are extending quickly, and in the present there are successfully functioning 600 units.

Retail – Selgros

Selgros Cash & Carry is the first retailer that became affiliated member of The Employers’ Organization of Hotels and Restaurants in Romania (HORA), affiliation that continues the partnership strategy of HoReCa sector of the company.

Selgros Cash & Carry donated over 2000 menus cooked by known chefs to people and families that are in difficulty from Brasov, transformig the edition of this year of the competition Chefs Arena in a project of social responsibility.

Retail – Lidl

Lidl continued the investment in Romania by opening a new store in Sovata, Mures district, on 7th of October, two new stores in Bacau and Dej on 14th of October, and a new store in Domnesti, reaching 314 units.

In October, Lidl Romania celebrated 10 years from entering the local market.

Retail – Auchan

Until 26th of October, all the Auchan stores from all the country celebrated with the occasion of 15 years from the opening of the first hypermarket Auchan in Romania.

Launched in 2020 as the first action under the umbrella #nuepreatarziu, The Program of Personal Sustainability (PSP) offered to the the employees of Auchan Retail Romania the possibility to get involved in different actions of social sustainability and responsibility.

Retail – METRO

For the 6th year consecutively, METRO celebrated the global initiative The Day of Your Business, in the second Tuesday of October, and opened 22 new stores LaDoiPasi.

Retail – cora

cora, the retailer that operates a network of 10 hypermarkets in Romania, uses 80 tons of flour per month to mold, leaven and bake bread in their own bakeries and relies of special assortments, with mayo, wholemeal and different seeds, to answer the requirements of many consumers that look for solution for a balanced lifestyle.

Retail – PENNY

To respect the mission for sustainable development, PENNY discounter implemented a program of increasing the minimum net disposable income for the employees in all the 288 stores and in the three logistic centers in the country.

Retail – Kaufland

Kaufland Moldova opened the third store in Chisinau, on Nicolae Testemitanu street no. 3, that generates 130 jobs.

Retail – other retailers

Cupio, one of the most representative brands on the market of professional cosmetics in Romania, extended the network store at national level.

FMCG

Napolact launched in September a new PET that is friendlier with the environment for the format ”On The Go”, 330 gr, consumed mostly out of home: the pet is now transparent and there have been replaced the labels fabricated from PVC with ones friendlier with the environment made form PET material.

Alina Bulgariu is the new Financial Vice-president of Ursus Breweries.

Bergenbier S.A., part of the Molson Coors Beverage Company, one of the most important companies on the beer market in Romania, joined in September to the global initiative „Our Imprint Month”, a month in which the employees of Molson Coors take part of action of social responsibility.

Simba Invest, one of the biggest and the oldest local distributors of FMCG products, took over the import and distribution for Romania of the portfolio of brands with premium spirits owned by the American-Japanese group Beam Suntory.

Scandia Food, leader on the canning market in Romania, entered in the category of frozen products by acquiring a new state-of-the-art factory in the domain of frozen food production based on meat, situated in Ilfov.

Alpin 57 LUX, one of the biggest producer companies of ice cream and pastry in Romania, part of the International Group Food Union, prepared for the cold season with news in the pastry segment, under the brand Romcherie.

Starting with October, Interbrands Orbico became the most important player on the FMCG distribution market in Romania, after finalizing the fusion of the two companies.

Bolt – the biggest European platform of mobility – expanded its national network of deliverers, in the context of increasing the requests and of launching Bolt Market.

Everli, the biggest online marketplace of food products in Europe, announced that intentions to expand in Germany and Romania, at the beginning of the year 2022.

Yellow.Menu – cloud restaurant with delivery in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca – made two new steps in the expansion of the business, developing new services on the B2B segment.

According to the platform of quick orders and deliveries foodpanda Romania, in the top of the most ordered cooked food products in the last year from the users are: burgers, pizza, french fries, soups, shaorma, kebap, crispy strips, pasta, chicken wings and pies.

The first Taco Bell restaurant in Romania was launched in 2017, in Baneasa Shopping City in Bucharest.

With the occasion of National day of Food and of Combating Food Waste, LifeBox, leader on the market of healthy food delivery in Romania, joined the initiatives of combating food waste, a phenomenon that is more accentuated in our country, and offers the consumers some simple tips through which they can contribute to diminish it.

Oveit, the company that launched the concept of Live Stream Shopping in Romania, came with new opportunities for the entrepreneurs from ecommerce and for the companies from retail.

Analysis

Romanian employees who need to work more from home in the last 18 months because of the pandemic Covid-19 want to come back at the office, in the conditions in which more than a half of them associates the return to the office with „returning to normality” and feel the lack of socializing with colleagues, according to the study „Back to the Office” made by Cushman and Wakefield Echinox.
